Experts Training for Online Friendly Skills Games 2021

As the current unprecedented situation calls for a creative way of providing continuing training and education to our experts and learners, WORLDSKILLS ASIA did the distance learning program in 2020 for all its member countries and it was a successful program. In 2021 we are extended our online training to cover more skills and prepare for ONLINE FRIENDLY SKILLS GAMES 2021. To understand the overall purpose of the program and to ensure as such is directly aligned with the mission of the organization, the following objectives were established: • To be able to face the emerging global challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and to sustain the educational response in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). • To continuously promote among different institutions and actors in the region the exchange of experiences, ideas, and initiatives related to the implementation of TVET programs in the context of the pandemic. • To prepare and ensure the readiness of the experts in engaging in Distance Skills Games in the upcoming months. • To reflect the Asian efforts, shared knowledge, and constant communication to keep us stay connected with each other. Creating such a program will enable the experts to have access to the training in their respective places. The training of experts and learners is to ensure their readiness in engaging all the Asian teams in the Online Friendly Skills Games 2021. Online Distance Training 2021 must be adopted, and education and training providers need to revise the teaching curriculum and learning models to make the best use of digital resources and tools. Short-term solutions may be possible and WorldSkills Asia seizes this opportunity to create long-term positive impact and develop greater resilience for the best interest of the organization and its member countries.

WorldSkills Asia 4th General Assembly via Online

WorldSkills Asia Organization continues its global achievements within the level of the Asian Continent as the 4th General Assembly was held on 15th January 2021 via online. Under the supervision of the Abu Dhabi Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), this virtual General Assembly was participated by 23 member countries with a total attendance of 110 representatives from member countries and sponsors. The meeting was chaired by HE Dr. Mubarak Al Shamsi, WSA President and General Director of Abu Dhabi Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET). The President began by welcoming all representatives of member countries and the sponsors, followed by reviewing the proposed objectives and the agenda of this meeting. Worldskills Asia CEO, Eng. Fahar Al Suwaidi, then presented a comprehensive report of the organization’s achievements, marketing initiatives, and new developments pertaining to the activities and direction of the organization in the coming years. He presented the new roadmap of the upcoming events of the organization as follows: - WorldSkills Asia Friendly Online Competition 2021 - WorldSkills Asia General Assembly 2022 (Republic of Korea, Incheon) - WorldSkills Asia Competition 2023 (Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur) Other updates included in his report was the draft of the WSA Constitution and By-laws and the Code of Conduct and Ethics for members’ ratification. He also presented the newly joined members who were all given slots to do their presentation about their country and their respective TVET activities. There were twelve (12) countries who applied to join the organization and members’ ratification is required for each country namely: 1- Republic of Armenia 2- Islamic Republic of Iran 3- Republic of Kazakhstan 4- Sri Lanka 5- Republic of Yemen 6- Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste 7- Republic of Maldives 8- Republic of Uzbekistan 9- Republic of Azerbaijan 10- Russia 11- Papua New Guinea 12- Sultanate of Oman The members unanimously voted for the approval and acceptance of the new member countries joining the organization. Worldskills Asia membership is now totaled to twenty-six (26) countries. In addition, the members also voted for the nominee, Ms. Aleena from Russia, for the new position to sit in the Board. In relation to the organization’s upcoming events, the host for the next General Assembly in 2022, Republic of Korea, was given the slot to present their plans and programs. Another presentation was made by Malaysia for their hosting of the WSA Skills Competition 2023 in Kuala Lumpur. Four sponsors were also given the opportunity to introduce their company and their products. The sponsors, at the same time, presented their offers of support to WSA and cited their commitment to be part of WSA’s events on all its technical and administrative requirements. In conclusion, HE Dr. Mubarak Al Shamsi thanked everyone for attending the meeting and for their contribution and commitment in supporting the direction of the organization to be able to reach its desired goals. He expressed his best wishes to all Worldskils Asia member countries for continuous progress and prosperity in all their undertakings.

WorldSkills Asia Faces this Challenging Times Head on!

With the cancellation of WSA Skills Competition scheduled in November this year, WSA will adopt and introduce the distance-learning program for experts in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Worldskills Russia, Omnia Education Partnerships Ltd and Studica via zoom live starting this 01st July 2020. Today, 15th June, marks the start of the registration for the first-ever “Experts Virtual Training” open and free of cost for all member countries. The skills program offered includes Enterprise Information Systems Security, Graphic Design Technology, IT Network Systems Administration, IT Software Solutions for Business, Web Design and Development and Mechanical Engineering CAD. Each skill will only enlist a maximum of 2 experts and training will run for 1 - 2 hours daily in two weeks-time. In spite of this challenging pandemic situation, WorldSkills Asia seizes this opportunity to pursue with its program for member countries with the aid of the technology. Creating this online training for experts and learners will enable them to create a positive mind-set and readiness for the proposed virtual competition in the near future.

Worldskills Asia Secretariat in Synergy

With eight months to go before the competition date which is on 17 November 2020, Worldskills Asia Organization is now on its preparation stages for this prestigious event. The Secretariat serving as the backbone of the organization, have laid down their marketing activities to implement while the technical team is finalizing the arrangement for the competition’s venue and other logistics. Communication with the Member and participating countries are continuous announcing the updates and development with regards to the competition, competitors and delegates. For this year’s competition, around 35 countries are expected to participate with 800 delegates, which has increased compared to 2018 competition with 540 participants. To date, 38 skills to compete under official, junior plus the future skills categories are listed.

WorldSkills Asia Welcomes New Members

Five additional Asian Countries were added in the list of WorldSkills Asia membership during the last quarter of 2019 and first quarter of 2020 namely : Republic of Maldives Yemen Democratic Republic of Timor Leste Republic of Uzbekistan Republic of Azerbaijan With these additional members, WorldSkills Asia is now comprised of 23 Asian member countries covering 48% of the total Asia Region. The Leaders of WorldSkills Asia Organization are targeting this year to invite more Asian countries to be able to double its membership before the end of this year. Formally organized in October 2017, WorldSkills Asia Organization started with only few Asian country representatives, and membership has grown and tripled its number over the last two years. Mr. Mubarak Al Shamsi, President of WorldSkills Asia Organization, heads the present Board of Directors. Other Board Members include Dr. Ghalip Bin Spahat from Malaysia, Mr San-Quei Lin from Chinese Taipei, and Dr. Byung Ha Kang from South Korea.

ACTVET Director-General appointed President of WorldSkills Asia

ABU DHABI, 26th August, 2018 (WAM) — WorldSkills Asia General Assembly has chosen Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, ACTVET, as the President of the association. Following his appointment, Al Shamsi thanked the wise leadership, hailing their keenness to empower ACTVET, which has led to raising the idea of creating this important association to develop a bright economic and industrial future on the Asian level. He highlighted that the first meeting of the WorldSkills Asia General Assembly took place in August, in which they discussed a range of new steps aimed at reinforcing the role of the association in the development of innovative skills and capacities of the Asian country’s youth in specialisations closely related to the fourth industrial revolution towards achieving the desired development in all Asian countries.

WorldSkills Asia 2023 boosting innovation for future generations: International participants

​The WorldSkills Asia Abu Dhabi 2023 competition is a special edition that fosters creativity and innovation for future generations, aligning with their ambitions to create a better future and attain global recognition.

The UAE's innovative projects in various fields of engineering, technology, and professionalism received acclaim from several participants, including international experts at the WorldSkills Asia Abu Dhabi competition. 

The projects reflect the UAE's vision to develop skills that foster innovation, as directed by its leadership. The participants also lauded the successful organisation of the event's current edition. 

A specialist in electrical installations from Taipei, China, said, “The UAE is hosting the WorldSkills Asia Abu Dhabi competition in a positive environment, showing its leadership in fostering creative skills in engineering and technology, and enhancing its reputation for organising major global events." 

He added that the WorldSkills Asia competition in Abu Dhabi offers students valuable opportunities for their education and careers. 

A CNC turning specialist from Taipei, China, praised the UAE for its excellence in organising and hosting global competitions and major international events, adding that he learnt a lot from the event's current edition in Abu Dhabi despite already participating in previous WorldSkills Asia competitions in different countries. 

He also expressed his confidence in the UAE's ability to host future global skills events, which will help increase the competitiveness of young people around the world. He then invited all nations from Asia and beyond to join the event, which enabled the sharing of knowledge among talented individuals from different continents. 

A Korean welding expert commended the organising committee for their excellent work in hosting this key event, which gathers the best contestants from Asia to challenge each other on one stage. The event aims to enhance their skills both academically and practically and prepare them for their future careers in various fields, he added. 

The second edition of WorldSkills Asia Abu Dhabi 2023 offers a unique opportunity for new generations of students to learn the innovative methods that competitors use to deal with developmental challenges, he said. 

The UAE's outstanding hosting and organisation impressed Mahmoud Al Qudah, a Qatar-based electrical installations expert. He said that WorldSkills Asia 2023 inspires and empowers students to pursue technical and professional careers, hone their skills, and cultivate a competitive spirit. 

The WorldSkills Asia competition showcases the talents of young professionals from 31 countries who excel in 28 skills vital for the future of industries and communities.

Nahyan bin Mubarak visits WorldSkills Asia 2023

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, said that the UAE's leadership values the country's achievements in promoting peaceful, academic and scientific coexistence among nations around the world.

The country is hosting young people from 31 countries across five continents participating in the WorldSkills Asia 2023 competition organised by the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET).

The three-day event at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre is being held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.

During his visit to the event, Sheikh Nahyan met with various young talents and encouraged them to unleash their creativity during the competition.

He also praised the achievements of ACTVET in establishing the WorldSkills Asia Association and hosting the first and second WorldSkills Asia competitions, in line with the UAE's leadership and vision for enhancing its citizens' creativity and innovation skills.

During his tour, Sheikh Nahyan was accompanied by Dr. Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director-General of ACTVET and the Founder and President of the WorldSkills Asia Association.

Dr. Al Shamsi presented an overview of the competition's system and mechanisms, outlining its objectives to empower youth to envision a sustainable future. The competition aims to achieve this by nurturing promising generations capable of creativity and innovation in various fields.

In his opening keynote speech, Dr. Al Shamsi affirmed the vision of the UAE's wise leadership to create national competencies capable of meeting the requirements of industrial and technological progress in the present and future.

Al Shamsi added that the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of this important event underscores the UAE's keenness to provide all the components and capabilities that enable the organisation to work according to an advanced strategy with global standards and with goals that include achieving educational and industrial progress in various countries in accordance with the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The UAE hosted the inaugural competition in 2018.
The opening ceremony featured a flag parade of the 31 participating countries, and a historical national epic, reflecting the remarkable cultural transformation that the UAE has witnessed in all fields, based on the authentic Emirati heritage, amid a feeling of pride and happiness from everyone.

ACTVET is hosting the second edition of the WorldSkills Asia Abu Dhabi 2023 competition at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

WorldSkills Asia association and global leaders and experts in technical and vocational education praised the event. The competition runs from 27th to 29th November, featuring 31 countries competing in 28 skills across various industrial, technological, and professional fields.

The event honoured the achievements of ACTVET for showcasing the UAE's past and present development based on ancestral skills in hunting and various traditional crafts. The event also highlighted the current and future contributions of the UAE's youth, using their creative skills to advance the nation and the world.

2nd WorldSkills Asia Competition enriches skills of future generations

​The 2nd WorldSkills Asia Competition showcases a diverse range of skills for young participants, including information technology network systems management, electronics and electrical connections, engineering drawing, self-moving smart robotics, website design, and graphic design technology.

Rashed Khalid Shah, an expert in the field of self-moving robotics for the youth category, affirmed the United Arab Emirates' status as a vanguard in empowering emerging generations with the requisite skills for the future.

In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Shah, who is participating in the event, emphasised that the competition serves as a beacon of the exceptional scientific and practical proficiency of the participating young talents.

He further underscored that the inclusion of self-moving robots for the youth category is a strategic initiative designed to amplify the capabilities of Emirati youth in honing their professional and artistic acumen.​​​

WorldSkills Asia Abu Dhabi 2023 is scheduled to commence this November

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the UAE is hosting the second edition of the WorldSkills Asia Competition in Abu Dhabi, organized by the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training from November 27-29 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, where contestants and experts from more than 30 countries will participate in the competition in 27 technical and professional skills.​
